I did the rear main seal, finished up the job on Sunday. I put the car up on the ramps today and had a look to see if everything was OK. It's not. The 2-transaxle seals are both leaking.
I replaced both seals while the transaxle was out. Both were installed flush with the casing and square. Axles were carefully cleaned and re-installed. I checked the ATF level today when the engine was hot, after a 30min. highway drive, (at least as hot as it can get with temps in the 20's) and it was about a quart high. I drained out a quart or so and got the level almost to the top of the "hot" section of the dipstick.
Questions, could too high an ATF level cause leaks? Do the seals need time to "seat in"? Could I have possibly been sold the wrong seals? (#6843112-1) BTW, the rear main has stopped leaking!
