I asked this ? a no. of weeks ago. Following the advice I changed an elbow on the vacuum tubing and checked a number of other hoses, nothing changed. Talked to a volvo mech who drives an 850 turbo and he said "pulley"---bingo. It's the pulley closest to the fire wall second down from the top(pass. side of engine).
