transmission paranoia 850 1994

okay, now i'm paranoid. i've just spent over $6000 on a car i've owned for only 14 months and am now worried sick that the transmission is going to be the next problem on my long list. the car has 63,000 miles, dealer serviced, and i'm the second owner, should i be worried? is there anyone out there that hasen't had this problem with a 1994 model? are there any preventative measures?
