Have your dealer call Volvos tech line about that as I recently had a '01 S80 (similar electrical system) with the same electrical problems, temporarily cured by removing/re-installing fuse #1 on the REM (rear electric module).

They had a few REM problems with the early cars and I was told to replace the REM (done the next day).
