I got a snap-on FTXEL40E for $33 and the 17 year old bolts submitted readily. I got new bolts from Volvo a few months ago and they were torx - but maybe that's what I asked for. They were really inexpensive, but my old ones came out in great shape I probably could have re-used them. The thermostat didn't seem to be stuck open but on a test drive with the new part the temp gauge went up to 3 o'clock much quicker. I suspect something was wrong with the old thermostat because it wasn't going over 4 o'clock on my temp gauge.
