I read codes with my cheapo meter and have not noticed any problems but when I took the car to the dealer for a new key programming, the guy said that my software was all messed up and that he needs 70 minutes to re-program. I can't say for sure there's any link. Lucky it was a set cost of $72 to program the key.......rip off
