I split the leaking muffler to cat joint, cleaned everything with brake cleaner,
then wet the ball and socket parts of the joint with water and applied that Permatex Muffler adhesive. It's not RTV. It's probably 50c worth of furnace cement from the look of it!
Anyway, I covered the clamp as well let it cure 30 minutes,
and that joint is fixed.
I'll cross my fingers that it's durable, and I notice that the Bosal Cat converter
is way smaller and some noisier than the original.
If I was to do it over, I'd have gone to a local muffler shop that specializes in cats, They weld in a generic for about $200. I could have had it done cheaper
without all the hassle.
Also I've heard negative comments from some of the local mechanics that the replacement cats are fakes, Nowhere as good as original.
