Has anyone out there had the pleasure of replacing the alarm LED & solar sensor housing on the front dashboard just below the windshield?
Unfortunatly, the plastic clips holding mine in were broken by an over-enthusiastic fellow cleaning the top dash at a local car wash a few years ago, and it's been flopping around up there ever since. I've finally gotten around to locating a replacement, but I've discovered that the wires going to the sensor housing are too short to allow me to remove it very far from the dashboard surface.
To further complicate things, I can't figure out for certain how to unclip the wires going into it.
(1) Does anyone know if the wire connector is just fitted in, or is it clipped somehow?
(2) Is there anyway to "release" the wires so that I have some more play in them for removing / installing the housing?
(3) Is there any good under-the-dash access to these wires, or is it so far back up there it would require removing the dashboard surface if I manage to lose the connection and it drops down into the opening?!
Thanks in advance!
