Erratic Idle in Park 850 1993

I am posting this as a second question, although I mentioned it in a question I had about the Throttle Control Sensor. Anyway. My 850 non-turbo idles erraticlly in Park, ranging from 1500 all the way down to about 500 in a rythmic pattern. Zooming up then dropping off, Zooming.... Anyone had this one? Only 75k on this car.

I have a possibly related problem that is similar to several comments others wrote. Between 30 mph and 50 mph, my car has a shudder with a surge then decline in rpm up to 2500 then down to 1500. This happens under light to no acceleration. Others describe a hard smack in the trani, mine is only a lite shudder. I am planning to replace the throttle control unit (TCU) this week.

A mechanic I spoke with said the(TCU)shouldn't even be active when the accelerator is engaged, so he doubts that the TCU would fix it. He suggests the fuel pressure regulator.

Anyone have a suggestion?
