Why it is important to keep the PTC nipple clean

For turbo engines there is no PCV valve to keep clean. That's great. But, there is a PTC valve which acts to keep negative pressure in the crankcase. It MUST be kept clean and that usually should be done after 120K miles or so.

A fellow Brickboarder just found out the hard way. Without any prior indication of trouble, he leaked out enough engine oil to turn on the oil light. In less than 3 miles of engine start! A front cam seal was pushed out and the oil was sprayed everywhere when it hit the Tbelt.

With luck, he might not have damaged the engine.

Please, take out the intake hose from the air cleaner -> turbo and clean out the PTC valve. The PTC has an electrical connection which makes it easy to spot.
