I am sharing my knowledge I have found thus far on this topic, seems like nobody knows about this on this forum. Only person that could give me some feedback thus far was Brandon at IPD:

"I would have done exactly what you did in terms of matching the purple to purple and the pink one where the orange was before. I’ve encountered this before with Volvo harnesses where wire colors aren’t exactly the same across models. I think your assumption is correct, otherwise you’d have thrown a CEL before."
