Bob is correct, the knee bolster must come out to get clearance. The air bag is above the glove box and is not in the way.

The knee bolster really doesn't want to come out, it is a tight fit. Pull it towards you to get it off the screws first, then move it to the right or left to get clearance. It is just as hard to put it back. Ignore the yellow SRS sticker.
