Unfortunately unlike earlier and later 850/70s ('96,'97,'98)you have to use a diagnostic tool, you can purchase one from IPD or have the dealer turn it off. FWIW, '92 - '95 850s could turn it off using the DLC connectors. After '98, Volvo made it possible to turn it off once again...
