The early DIM (driver information module[instrument panel]) is known to overheat and mess up badly. And, yes, it is programmed to work with the ECM and other computers. A larger heatsink is needed.

I have yet to hear of an XemodeX DIM fail, so I point people there. If there is a junkyard version that might be compatible, great, but the odometer disparity does bother me a lot.
