Your bread clips may not be as thick as they were 2 years ago, lots of clutch pounding on them, plus the wear on the clutch plate. You can check the gap with a feeler gauge, or just push on the edge of the clutch and see if there is a visible gap where the bread clip goes.

I just gapped mine with metal strips and glue today. AC works at 97F.
