Idle fluctuation is usually the symptom of a vacuum leak. Or, with the idle control valve next to the throttle. You might want to try cleaning it and inspect the air line that goes into the top of the vacuum tree.

On your next free morning, pull a spark plug or two before trying to start the car and see if the tips are dirty. When was the last time the cap and rotor were replaced? Condensation in the cap could be a problem.
