I offer the following observation: I have a 2004 V70 (no Turbo)155K miles.
My wife has a 2003 XCv70, 100k miles. In general I get "lead footing" it around town about
21 to 22 MPG- Winter. My wife's car same conditions (around town, easy acceleration, etc) usally I will note she is getting 23mpg. I do not drive her car
much. My car is noticably quicker to 55mph than the higher HP XC. I have felt
this was due to the fuzzy-logic electronics controlling the transmission shift points and reflecting two different driving styles.
