Is your system ECC (variable speed blower) or MCC (blower speed has numbers). If the latter, probably a loose cable behind the MCC panel.

In either case, the heat should never need to be turned "on" as the temperature dials will compensate and open/close the heat vents.

The ECC unit may blink the yellow lights for the recirc and AC and if that is the case, one of the vent motors is not working correctly.
