Your struts/shocks are probably original and getting a little soft. 138K is a good life span, but the creaking sound is usually the rubber spring seat failing and not shock noise.

I would go for OEM, Sachs, on all 4 corners. The rear shocks are easier to replace and getting all 4 is usually discounted.

Make sure you use XC90 spring seats or the HD version from IPD. An alignment is required after replacing the struts.
