There aren't that many rubber vacuum lines in the NA engine compartment. Small sections from the SAS relay on the fan shroud to the air pump down below. A small line from the SAS relay to the intake manifold.
Most of the vacuum lines are hard plastic and small diameter which have rubber elbow connectors. It is the rubber elbows that deteriorate over time. Not all rubber elbows are the same size, which presents another problem. There is no one vacuum diagram for the 1998 NA engine that is complete or accurate. I found one for a 1996 850 and it was missing half of the lines and the diagrams pointed to never-never land for some.
