An aftermarket unit with whatever accessories are required to make it plug-n-play is probably the sensible route to take. There's no reason to think that a used Volvo radio is going to work any better than the one we have.

It's amazing how car radios have advanced. Excuse me, it's not a radio, it's a "receiver".
