If the cap was not seated, then a few drive cycles with a tight cap will cause the light to go away. A generic scanner should be able to clear the code, but that is like disconnecting the battery - the car will have to go through a long drive pattern to 'reset' its drive parameters. Do not do this if you are going to get tested within a month or so.
