Well I was was making tight turns in the gas station to get to a pump that was on the right side and I heard a loud crack on turning and the steering went tight....my mechanic warned me tie rods were getting bad some time ago....was planning on doing myself but weather wasn't warm enough yet. Anyway on the way to the shop, the car died in the grocery store parking lot. Checked codes.... MAF no signal, unplugged it and the car started and made it home and coasted into the driveway (it died again) Called around for a new MAF......dealer wanted 275 but had to order it....Ordered at FCP for 130.00 with 2nd day air....(bosch) but had to take a taxi to and from work 80.00 (ouch) I should have kept a new spare in the glovebox, this one is 10 years old and I can see on the MAF circuit board a blackened break in the circuit. Car started and ran long enough to make it to shop to have the tie rod replaced.....right side was completely gone but still connected charged me 60.00 for a MOOG (installed). Said other side was good but will replace soon....Car has been smelling strange from exhaust and mileage was down to 21.4 avg. from 24. Idle has been a little erratic for a while. MAF is something to replace before it goes bad.....keep the old one in the glove box......
