Normal failure is the small plastic drive wheel in the speedometer. Change out the 4 larger 194 spade bulbs while there and check the smaller bulbs also.

Before you pull the cluster, check the mileage that is stored electronically in the cluster. Put the probe in A-7, push the black button 5 times, wait for the light to come on, push once, wait for the red light, push once, wait for the red light and push twice. The response will be the left 3 digits, 10 blinks of the light = zero.
Do the same thing 5,1,1,1 to get the right 3 digits.
