Strange..
Do you hear the fuel pump running for about 2 to 3 seconds when you turn the key even when it doesn't start? (whining sound from the rear)
If so: does the 'immobilizer' light go out? If the immobilizer doesn't dis-arm then the car will not start (it may 'try' to, but cut out after 1 or 2 revolutions). It will also cut the engine if it fails to read the code from the key while driving..
Any other keys or (active)badges on your keychain? They can interfere.
Have they already replaced the fuel pump? If they suspect it then I would assume that to be the first action they take. Of course you could have a bad pump, but it's not something we read here often as they are usually pretty sturdy (unless allowed to run dry).
