Frank,

I'am not sure about the cleaning of your wheels, however the check engine reset light problem is no problem:

1. key in the ignition to position I

2. push and hold in your trip reset button

3. Key to position II

4. Lights on the dash on, some go off when the service light starts blinking release the trip reset button. Wa la.
