Go to Gates belt site to see how newer EPDM belts differ from older serpentine belts - they do not crack like older belts and do not show their age.

They wear out like tire treads and will aquaplane in the wet.

Gates will send you a free gauge so that you can check your belt.

You should change it on schedule or check it with a gauge to avoid troubles.
