I got a small screw clamp and tightened the vacuum line to the PTC nipple. The glove on the filler neck initially filled part way (wimpy wave) and then collapsed and started to draw in to the cams - this was a cold engine start.
Now the real test: A mpg test. I did this 2 way run on our local 4 lane highway last fall and got 23mpg at 70mph. Today, 27mpg at 70. Success!!
The garage didn't smell bad after the run either. Smell came from oil vapors coming out of the crankcase from the vacuum line.
