That does sound a bit early for the clutch to wear down, but it is 11 years old. Ignore the miles if the car has been mostly city, stop and go.

If it is the clutch, try putting shims in the clutch on the outside as it only takes 30 minutes and zero cost for parts. Look up 'bread clips', except use metal instead of plastic and glue them in there.
