Before this 'slow fill' started happening, do you have a habit of putting in a little more gasoline after the automatic shut off? I thought NJ didn't allow you to fill your own car?
When the fuel shuts off, tell the attendant not to add a splash more.
When the tank is overfull, the excess gasoline will flow down to the charcoal canister and fill that with liquid. When the line and the charcoal are full of gasoline, the venting system goes nuts.
Usually, driving to 1/4 tank and filling to 3/4 tank once will solve your problem.
No, spiders do not live in fuel vent tanks. And, no, insects can not breath gas vapors.
