What does your belt look like?

Does it have any cracks?

Newer EPDM belts do not crack, but they can wear out like tires do.

Go to the Gates Belts site - If you ask, they will send you a free gauge to check for wear.

An anecdote - when I went for an inspection sticker for my new 54 CHEVROLET DEL RAY the garage had a nice Gates belt display in the waiting room - and - a Gates gauge on the counter

I strongly agree with Klaus one of our 740 alternators seized up at 215K
