Keeping things simple is no longer Volvo's creed. Witness the fuel pump 'module', along with the other 5 computer boards, 3 or 4 fuse locations, CVVT for an extra 1 mile per gallon, light bulbs in inaccessible locations, no spare tire, electronic throttle bodies that cannot be maintained, transmission fluid that cannot be drained without a lift, disabling the engine because the A/C pressure is too high, and the list goes on.
Heck, in my 2008 Mercedes, I can't replace the brake pads unless I tell the computers what I did! Want to buy an $800 computer for occasional use?
