Try the XC90 forum.

I've only replaced a bulb in an XC but I did notice that the headlight assembly was different from my V70.
I recall the sheet metal pull-to-release tabs but little else.

If there are parts to turn I respectfully suggest giving them a shot of thin lube (like plain silicone spray) beforehand.
