You are right in being worried. I would want to get a compression test w/leak down. Usually, when you have multiple misfires (flashing CEL) codes will be stored. When it is a single coil, a code is stored. In your case, no codes??

A burned valve is one thing, a cracked sleeve is another. Or it could be a simple fix, like a leaking join in the intercooler piping.
