Try shifting to "R" and see if the backup lights come on. Your PNP switch may be getting crusty. When the shift light blinks, try 'rowing' the shifter from R to L with the engine off, about 20 times. If the arrow turns off in D after that, I would suspect the PNP will need replacing soon.
