2001 Volvo S60 Transmission problem? S60

So I got this Volvo going good, runs well, seems to shift pretty smooth, but when i come to a complete stop the car kinda shifts forward then almost seems to shift into neutral, when i take off again I have slight hesitation before it goes into 1st. If I run the AC this doesn't happen. Could this be a software issue (the stop/neutral feature) ? Is a software flash usually expensive? dealer only?
