Have you confirmed that tow is properly adjusted? No other worn suspension components? I'd do those things (and a proper alignment) before resorting to modifications.
Last time I paid for an alignment (on an '01 V70) Sears did make a minor toe adjustment but also made some adjustments on the rear. At first I couldn't believe it but was convinced after seeing that the undercoating on the suspension fixing bolts had indeed been disturbed. Having just replaced many front suspension components and spending big money on four new Michelins I considered the alignment to be money well spent.
