New serp belt

Compare the length of the new vs old; is the new one shorter? If not I suspect that the new belt might be getting hung up on the taller inner edge of one of the other pulleys, not flat across the face. The new ones tend to do that because they're stiff and don't want to conform to the pulleys.

Best of luck. At least you have the right tool. I finally went out and bought one; too many years struggling with cobbled together tools.
