That 50-105K number sounds like a timing belt interval. 50K for the B234, 105K for the early 2000s white blocks. The last versions of the 5 cylinders have a 120K belt interval.

If it were to fail the resulting damage would be catastrophic of course, so it's worth looking into if you're concerned. For me, unless it's making excessive noise, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
