Has anyone got any tips for dealing with the inner timing cover when replacing the water pump ?
What an obnoxiously stupid design. The cover is trapped behind the water pump and blocks access to the top water pump bolts. Not to mention that there is no room between the motor and the frame rail. Our '04 V70 was spacious by comparison.
As far as I can tell the motor has to be lowered. The bolts have to come out of the inner cover. And the pump still needs to be forced out between the inner cover and the frame.
