Hi Herb,
Thanks for the information on this VIDA-Dice mess! I never heard of this stuff but I live in the recent past of Dark Ages! Like behind more than ten years! Something connected to FWDs. (:-)
The A of the VIDA is for Aftersales.
SALES? YEAH! Sure, just to read a warning from my car or for it to communicate to my mechanic? $$$ales!
Dice … Diagnostic Communication Equipment, this must the working half you buy and have in the trunk!
Is the “I” for interface?
I don’t see the I used in the nomenclature. Guess it’s a given?
I googled those abbreviations and got a whole history of changes and a mention of XP and Microsoft Windows versions. All that turned to junk or is now going as defunct as the desktops and towers!
They have smart phones out doing them now and who knows what’s up with the folding tablets!
Looks like you have to repair the OBD or the DICE system by updating it first, in order to even use it.
That explains why he not getting a reading from other black boxes!
I see references to a 2015A downloading with a whole bunch before that making things difficult.
In fact, if you rub around on the keyboard enough a “Genie screen” might pop up with even more revisions!
I also see the scanners come with scammers! Real fun there!
Was this car made back when Ford “shared” an interest in Volvo?
Sure smells like it!
I hear GEELY wants to sell out of their portion of Volvo, as China wants to dominate their countries electric car sales with basic proven power train designs and then export in quantities!
Things are in a stir everywhere, between the European and China strengths.
Microsoft made revisions with every version of anything they made and the public helped them, for a polite thank you! Seldom any paycheck!
Does Volvo even do that for past customers, of their latest cars, that have terrible maintenance cost reviews?
I bet VIDA-DICE had a lot to do with that, if it’s still being used?
I see the car has 125,000 miles and have read on here that it appears that the latest cars are toast at 200,000.
I haven’t heard that about the mid 2000 years!
Maybe these are the last of Volvos good blood lines!
Thanks again for the great update!
Phil
