FYI: Couldn't erase codes with engine running. XC60 2016

So I had the codes P030100, 30400 and 30000. I changed the spark plugs and used my scanner to erase the codes. The scanner said it erased them but when when I checked for the codes, they were still there. Erase then check -- still there with the yellow check engine light on. I finally got them erased for good by turning the ignition on without the engine running, then erasing with the scanner.
