Use the proper rating for your car or higher.

Do you know what your fuel management system senses a knock?

It adds extra fuel - because knocking is ignition BEFORE the plugs spark - changing timing may not work quickly.

I do not know if it resets itself normally - I found out during a trip across Canada when I got regular gas at a set of French pumps - I got 3 GPM less on that tankful!
