exspert help needed 400 1990

im not an expert but i had the same problem when i owned a rover, i found there was condensation building up in the distributor cap i took the cap of and wiped it thoroughly then put back and was fine it was a sort of fault, have you also tryed changing the spark plugs and ignition leads distributor and rotor arm....
