Consequences of timing belt being 2 cogs 'off' 850 1996

I've seen a couple posts here over the years indicating the belts were
sometimes off from the factory on some of the earlier cars (maybe
through 95). It probably reduces performance and people with
normally aspirated engines looking for more go are often
urged to check this as one of the few things they can do to bump up
performance (that is, make sure it is set to spec.).

I would be interested to hear if your car feels faster after the
belt is set correctly.
