A visitor to New York asked a passerby "How do you get to Carnegnie(please excuse my spelling) Hall?" The New Yorkers answer? "Practice, practice, practice."
If you can't back a wagon near an obstacle without hitting it you NEED practice.
Look at the inside of the hatch and figure that the car is about one foot longer.
Get or make a highway cone or something like a cone to put in your driveway and practice backing or pulling close to it every time you get home.
Does the radar tell you how close to the obstacle you get? Does it have some feature to tell you that it is working? How did you find out that five feet is short? Does the radar pick up curbs in the rear?
