Sadly, no. Nothing's changed that'll make a difference. The AWD system currently used on the AWD S60 is different but only time will tell how durable it'll be.

The tire/angle gear "disasters" is in-excusable IMO. That simply doesn't happen in other makes of vehicles with AWD/4WD.

I don't/won't recommend any AWD Volvo to date, not until I see an improvement in quality.
