Wheels 850 1997

I researched around for some fancy steel wheels for my 850 and found few except for chromed ones. I'll probably try rally wheels next.

In my travels I was told that one drawback with aftermarket wheels is that they are often produced for only 2 years or so, and spares are available for a year or two after that. I heard this from a guy with two sets of three wheels for sale. He did not want to pay the going rate for Volvo wheels, and could not find another of his "upgrade" wheels. You can still get replacement wheels for a lot of Volvo models.

Local salvage yards get $170 for Volvo wheels, IF they have any. My local yard which specializes in Volvos (they have 800) did not have any of the 24 spoke wheels which I do not think is a rare wheel. (Both my 850s have them!)

Some advice - I bought a set off a guy who's son bent a wheel, he bought a new wheel, and his son bent the same wheel one month later. He sold me three pretty old wheels and one bent new one. If your wife bent the right front wheel, don't put the new wheel there.

I was able to get the wheel repaired for $80.
