Codes should be displayed on the dash. V70-XC70 1998

For patience, I would refer you to a frequent poster on this board, Mrsha. His attitude, while perhaps extreme, is noteworthy. He pretty much ignores his Check Engine lights. Resets them, and drives on. Don't worry be happy.

That's his choice. My philosophy is that if something is knowable, then I want to know it. How I choose to act on that information is my business. That's why I want ALL the codes from Volvo. The decision of whether or how to fix my car should be in my hands, not theirs. But that's only because I enjoy tinkering with my car. If you don't want to you don't have to. Remember, there were no diagnostic trouble codes ten years ago.

Find a wrecked Volvo. I recently saw one at a body shop. The front was completely smashed. The passenger compartment was intact. Airbag deployed. Coins in the coin holder, tape in the tape player. No sign of blood. The driver obviously walked away. After seeing that you'll keep your car.

Cars need to be maintained. Remind me never to buy a car from your sister. :)

But nobody should have to buy a code reader. The codes should be displayed instead of the check engine light.
