Transmission hangs in low when cold 850 1994

Have 94 850 Volvo SW. Had similar problem. Our mechanic finally felt a little click in the transmission lever and was able to duplicate at will by slight pressure on the lever. Replaced the manual valve lever position sensor and so far has taken care of the problem. Part approx $150. Labor is 1.5 hours.
